Ningol Chakkouba celebrated all over

IMPHAL, Nov 13: Reaffirming thebond between the brothers and the sisters, Ningol Chakkouba festival was celebrated with great fanfare all over the State yesterday.
Apart from celebrating the festival in every households by inviting married women and their children to a grand feast, the festival was also celebrated at community level by various so- cial organisations by inviting women from various communities.
All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO), which has been celebrating the festival under the banner of ‘Eikhoigee Iche-Ichalsing-bu Ningingba Numit with the main objective of promoting love, peace, integri- ty and co-existence among different tribes and communities of Manipur, this year celebrated Ningol Chak-ko-uba at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Sanglen here yesterday with the co-operation of various clubs, social orga-nisations and associations.

As in previous years, National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) joined hands with various other social organisations in celebrating Chingmi-Ta-mmi Ningol Chakkouba by hosting community feasting at different places like Saiton Bazar in Bishnupur district, Pallel Bazar in Thoubal Bazar, Ekou Bazar in Imphal East District, etc.

Chingmi-Tammi Ningol Chakkouba celebration was also organised by MPI Council and All Manipur Women’s Social Reformation and Development Sa- maj respectively Tangkham Kalika Lairembi and Sinam Shama Devi Town Hall, Chingmeirong yesterday.
United People’s Administrative Council, Wabagai organised the 6th Chingmi-Tammi Ningol Chakkouba, 2007 at Sugnu Ching-Tam community Hall, Sugnu.

Universal Mothers’ Organisation (UMO) joined hands with SYSCA, URE-DO and SYC in organising ‘Loiyalam Ching-Tam Ning-ol Chakkouba’ at Ching- Tam H/S, Salungpham, Heirok in Thoubal district. All Manipur Tammi-Chi-ngmi Apunba Nupi Lup also celebrated Ningol Chakko-uba yesterday.

Senapati District Meitei Social Development Committee, Motbung hosted Chingmi-Tammi Ningol Chakkouba at the jubilee hall of Presidency College, Motbung yesterday.
All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) celebrated its Chingmi-Tammi Ningol Chakkouba Thouram, 2007 at its headquarters office complex.United People’s Front, Manipur celebrated Ningol Chakkouba along with people of various communities at Kangla here yesterday.Progressive People’s Organisation celebrated its 5th Chingmi-Tammi Ningol Chakkouba at the Singjamei Oinam Thingel residence of Y Surjit.

On the occasion of Nin-gol Chakkouba, Manipuri Youth Organisation presented gifts to inmates of eight orphans located in different parts of he State.

Our Jiribam correspon-dent adds: The Ningol Chakkouba was observed at two different places of Jiribam yesterday. The All Jiribam United Clubs Association (AJUCA) organised a Ningol Chakkouba feast at Lakhipur whereas the Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) organised similar feast at Jiri Town Hall. Womenfolk of various communities attended the feast at both venues and gifts were also exchanged.
