Imphal, Jul 15: A 23-year old Manipuri girl working at the 5-star Leela Kempinsky hotel in Mumbai was found dead at her rented room at Andheri East in Mumbai on July 11 midnight in a suspicious manner.
The girl identified as Chabungbam Elina alias Ebehaibi, daughter of Ch Shyamkishore Singh of Kongba Khestri Leikai Karkhong in Imphal east district was brought back by her family to Imphal on an Indian Airlines flight from Mumbai this afternoon.
Immediately after her dead body arrived at Imphal some local doctors examined the dead body at the deceased`s residence and found possible signs of rape as some external and internal marks were discovered at her private parts.
According to family sources, Elina had been working at the hotel for more than a year and a half while waiting for recruitment in a commercial flight service after completing aviation training from a reputed institution.
She was staying with two other roommates from Manipur and the news of her death was given by one of her roommates who is a resident of Keishampat.
Following the information of her death, the deceased`s elder brother Ashok Kumar went to Mumbai to collect the dead body.
The family said that the MIDC police station of Mumbai had already registered a case in connection with her death and her dead body was handed over to them after post mortem at the Cooper Post Mortem Centre at Juhu in Mumbai.
The medical officer of the post mortem centre handed over a preliminary finding on the cause of her death as Ligature marks over the neck. However, finding for histo pathology and chemical analysis are underway at the forensic department of the centre.
In the meantime, expressing dissatisfaction at the findings of the post mortem report, the family said such a mysterious death of a well educated and prospective student from the state must be taken seriously and the state government should pressurize the Maharashtra government to find out the actual cause of her death.
