Racial Attack Continues in National Capital
FIR Registered Action Still Delay
New Delhi, November 6, 2009, 8:50 hrs : Grieve of gruesome killing of 19 years old Naga Girl by IIT Delhi student still to over come. Yet another Naga boy attacked in Delhi last night and injured. Racial attack continues in Delhi. Million dollar questions, “Will Sheila Dikshit Government and her police force able to stop the racial discrimination meted out to north east communities living in national capital.”
According to sources reaching to North East Support Centre & Helpline late last night says that while two Naga boys, belonging to Lotha tribes was coming by Auto Rickshaw in Kotla, South Delhi at around 10 PM, and few local men threw momos at them. Then Naga boys got down from Auto and confronted. After sorting out the matter among them and while two Naga boys started moving by Auto, few of the local men started pelting bricks on Naga boys. One was severely injured and informed to Kotla Police station.
The source further reports that police unlike earlier, took the boy who was injured and took to hospital for medical check up and latter registered FIR 314 under 325/323/34 sections of India Penal Code.
Speaking to Sub Inspector Ram Veer Singh of Kotla Police Station says, “No action has been taken up till filing of this report because the identities of culprits are not known.”
There seems still lacking willingness from police part to take up the immediate action to trace the culprits. Terming as unknown person and reluctance to investigate the case, passer by people who might have witness the crime or taking the victim along with police and try to identity could be best attempt on part of police officer on duty to trace the culprits.
Speaking to the victims and his friend that the culprits are unknown to them but their identity can be identified if they are presented before them. “Police could have taken the victim to the spot and should have tried to identify the culprits or investigate from nearby people who witness the incident, which is not done by the police,” says Mr. Jami a friend of victim.
The case was taken to Kotla police station through the help of Naga Students’ Union Delhi under the leadership of Mr. Luikang Lamak, who also led the campaign for Ramchanphy Hongrei’s murder case.
Racial attack and discrimination seems not going to end in Delhi at least for North East communities. Girls are easily targeted for sexual abuses and assaults while the boys with physical attacks.
The repeated assurance given by Delhi Chief Minister Ms. Sheila Dikshit and Delhi police to North East communities is yet to see in reality. Honest in the assurance given is yet to be seen by the nation.
A strong message will be required to send out to the masses in Delhi and boys and girls from North East India are part of this country although they may look different and may speak different languages and they should not be treated different. Any offenders must be punished severely according to laws of the land. [nehelpline]
