Six Years Old North East Girl Raped and Murdered

Racial Discrimination Continues to North East Communities at Delhi

New Delhi, April 17, 2009 (8:00 PM): A six year old girl from Manipur belonging to a Naga tribe was raped and murdered at Mahipalpur, New Delhi today. Racial discrimination to North East communities living in Delhi and NCR continues.
Fact Finding team led by Advocate Lansinglui Rongmei, President of North East Support Centre & Helpline rushed to the spot where the incident happened and confirmed the raped and murdered of the victim.

Source reaching to North East Support Centre & Helpline told that six year old girl went to dry clothes on the roof of the house the parents are staying in the rented house at 1:00 noon. When the girl did not return back home, the mother went up to the roof in search and did not find her. After 45 minutes her body was found in a water tank on roof of another building.

The body was rushed to Spinal Injury Centre, Vasant Kunj and latter confirmed raped and murdered.

NE Helpline called up to Vasant Kunj police station and reported the matter. Sources from Vasant Kunj Police station confirms that a suspect man living in the same building where the girl was found has been arrested and a Nepali boy is absconding.

The girl was staying in Mahipalpur with her mother who is a nurse professionally and her father a business man.

North East Support Centre & Helpline calls upon the Delhi Government and NCR to take up the appropriate measurement to stop the discrimination meted out to North East people. People from North East India living in Delhi and NCR are facing severe racial discrimination.

In Gurgaon two girls were beaten by landlord in December and another raped and latter turned hostile in the court. In March a boy beaten by cable operators and two girls by Rikshaw driver. Most of these cases are pending under police stations. [nehelpline]
