1. Two NEFC cum GEO members were beaten for close to two hours using iron rods and sticks. These two guys were confined in a room adjacent to NECF Worship Service Room from 2.00 AM to 6.00 AM on Saturday the 17th Nov'07. Only after the intervention of the Landlord and few NECF cum GEO Seniors, they could be released. Per the version of the Biharis (The other party): Few NE people quarreled outside the room at around 1.00AM. And they had requested the NE people not to disturb their sleep. One of the Biharis said instead of listening to our request, they (NE people) argued with us. When we all came out from our room, the NE people fled away. The story didn't end here. These Biharis along with few local people (around 50 in total) entered every room of the Northeasterners at NECF and opposite building in search of the guys who fled the scene. The two caught and beaten were innocent and had no clue about the earlier incident. One of the two NE guys said he was called out of his room while he was still reading a Newspaper. Once he was out, he slapped at no fault of his. Then, he retaliated but unfortunately outnumbered within a few seconds. These Biharis are never seen dining together BUT it was quite surprising to see the Bihari shopkeeper opposite to the NECF building wearing bandage all over his head. This shopkeeper wasn’t hurt and had no injury but he did that in case the Northeasterners reported the matter to the police. The matter could be reported but for few reasons. This incident has revealed nothing but the lack of unity amongst the Northeasterners at Gurgaon.
2. GEO has successfully handed over the case of Steffi to her family members. GEO did everything that could be done in line with suggestions from Delhi Seniors. GEO expresses thanks to those seniors who had helped her with transportation expenses.
3. The KUT Celebration at Gurgaon was cancelled due to non-availability of a proper venue. This should not reduce the enthusiasm of the artists as well as the could-have-been participants. GEO will certainly and doubly celebrate the same the next year.
4. GEO plans to bring out a Calendar. Every GEO executive members will be contributing a reimbursable amount of Rs.400/- each. GEO members are requested to make this fund drive a success by purchasing a copy of it when released.
5. Joyngam Anal, a resident of Asha Bhawan, Gurgaon (Rehabilitation Center), was safely guided back to Asha Bhavwan with the help of GEO members. Joyngam left Asha Bhawan after he was punished for breaking few rules and regulations of the center. He was found loitering aimlessly at Sikanderpur by GEO members. He was given shelter at NECF cum GEO Advisor’s house. It was truly satisfying to feel the happiness of his parents over the phone (STD Calls).
6. GEO members who have not enrolled their names for the term 2007-2008 are requested to do so before the end of December 2007. No registration will be done after the 31st day of December 2007.
