1197 new posts to be allocated to 32 earmarked police stations in state

IMPHAL, Nov 27: Following the approval for creation of 1197 posts by the state home department, the police department has also worked out the numbers of posts to be allocated to each of the 32 police stations to be strengthened under the action plan for reduction of violence in Manipur.

The additional civil armed reserved police of the Imphal east district police and another new police station at Andro will also be established with full sanctioned strength, an official source said. The said police stations were identified as sensitive stations based on the incidents of violence under "draft action plan for reduction of violence".

As per the worked out allocation of the created posts, 285 posts have been allotted to Imphal east district police, 243 to Imphal west, 238 to Thoubal, 200 to Bishenpur, 40 to Chandel, 34 to Churachandpur, 40 to Tamenglong, 77 to Senapati while 40 posts have been allotted to Ukhrul district police.

The 285 posts allotted to Imphal east include 58 posts (one inspector, three each of SIs, ASIs and head constables, 30 constables and three drivers) for newly opening Andro police station and 120 posts (one inspector, three SIs, four ASIs, 12 head constables and 100 constables) for setting up additional civil armed reserved police at the headquarter.

The 285 posts allotted to the Imphal east district police include three inspectors, 14 sub-inspectors, 16 assistant sub-inspectors, 24 head constables, 216 police constables and 12 drivers and it has been distributed among five police stations and civil armed reserve.

Out of the total sanctioned posts of different ranks in this district, 39 are to be added to Lamlai police to have sanctioned posts of 58. The current strength of this station is 19. Another 40 to the Jiribam police station which has only 18 sanctioned posts and 43 at Heingang police station which has only 15. Two police stations in this district, Porompat and Irilbung, have full strength which are respectively 73 and 58.

Forty posts have been allotted out of 243 different posts created in Imphal west district police to Sekmai police station to raise the strength of this station to 58 and another 15 posts in the Imphal police station to have 82 sanctioned posts here. 21 posts have been allotted to Singjamei police station to have 68 sanctioned posts from the current 47 posts.

Forty-three created posts have been allotted to Lamsang police to increase the sanctioned posts to 58 from the present 15 strength and 22 posts to Lamphel police station to raise the strength of the station from 47 to 69.

Mayang Imphal police have been allotted 36 posts to increase to 58 from the current strength of 22 personnel, 43 posts to the Patsoi police station to raise the sanctioned posts to 58 from the current 15 and the 23 posts have been allotted to City police station to increase the strength of the station from 37 to 58.

Five police stations in Bishenpur were also categorized as sensitive police stations and a total of 200 posts of different categories were sanctioned in these stations.

Out of these 200 posts created in the district, 32 are in the Bishenpur police station which currently has 26 strength to make it 58. 41 posts have been allotted to Moirang police station to increase the strength of the station from current 17 to 58. Nambol police has been allotted 43 posts to raise its current strength of 15 to 58. The Loktak police station which has current strength of 17 personnel will also increase to 58 by adding 41 posts.

The strength of Chandel police station at Chandel district police headquarters will be increased to 58 by adding 40 posts from the current strength of 18. Likewise Churachandpur police station having only 24 sanctioned posts will be increased to 58 by creating 40 additional posts under the action plan to reduce violence in the state.

The manpower of the Tamenglong police station in Tamenglong district headquarters will also be strengthened by allotting 40 posts making the total strength 58. The station has currently only 18 sanctioned posts.

Two police stations in Senapati district, the Senapati police station and Kangpokpi police station will also be strengthened by creating respectively 40 and 37 posts of different categories to have sanctioned posts of 58 each. The current strength of these two police stations is 18 and 21 respectively. The total posts created for the Senapati is 77.

All the 40 posts created and allotted to Ukhrul district police will be allotted to the Ukhrul police station located at the district headquarter to increase the current strength of 18 posts to 58.

The posts were allotted by the state DGP following receipt of consent of creation of 1197 posts of different categories under the "draft action plan for reduction of violence in Manipur`. An order in this regard was issued on November 20 last, the source added.
